Crowns & bridges

Covering a weakened tooth with a crown, or replacing a missing tooth with a bridge supported by neighbouring teeth.

Illustrative image.

A crown is a cap made to cover the whole tooth, and may be suggested for a tooth weakened by a large filling, root canal treatment or a fracture. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to the neighbouring teeth.

The right option is decided after an examination, including alternatives such as an implant or a simpler restoration where possible.

What to expect

  • Preparing the tooth and taking an impression or scan.
  • A temporary crown may be placed until the final one is ready.
  • Fitting the crown or bridge and checking your bite.
  • Daily care and follow-up help it last.

General information only. The right treatment for you is decided after an examination, and results vary from person to person.
