Fixed & removable prosthetics

Replacing missing teeth with fixed or removable prosthetics, depending on your mouth and needs.

Missing teeth affect chewing, speech and appearance, and neighbouring teeth can drift over time. There is more than one way to replace them.

Options

  • Fixed prosthetics: such as bridges or crowns on implants — fixed in place, not removed at home.
  • Removable prosthetics: partial or complete dentures you take out to clean; they can suit people missing many teeth.

The choice depends on how many teeth are missing and the state of the gums, bone and remaining teeth; the doctor explains the benefits and limits of each option.

What to expect

  • An examination and X-rays when needed, then a written plan before starting.
  • Impressions of your teeth, and a try-in before the final fitting.
  • Removable prosthetics can take some getting used to and a few small adjustments.

General information only. The right treatment for you is decided after an examination, and results vary from person to person.
